Accessible Holiday Accommodation

Hamps Hall and Barn is a wheelchair-accessible holiday accommodation, welcoming all guests.

Accessible Accommodation in Hamps Barn

We love to welcome all our guests, which is why we turned Hamps Hall and Barn into a wheelchair accessible accommodation.  We have adapted four ground floor bedrooms in Hamps Barn (left half of Hamps Hall & Barn). There is also one fully wheelchair accessible wet room (photo below, next to a twin bedrooms), plus two further ground floor bath/shower rooms. This will enable everyone, including those in your group with limited mobility, to join the fun!

All the other ground floor rooms in Hamps Barn are also accessible without steps. These include the 50-foot long living room, a large kitchen, and the dining room with space for all of you to dine together. Hamps Hall, however, being an old property, does not have any bedrooms without step access, and is therefore not suitable for wheelchair users. We strongly recommend reading the accessibility statement to make sure doors fit with your wheelchair.

Hamps Barn has 4 twin bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on the ground floor (one of which is a fully accessible wet room). All other ground floor rooms are level access. Please note, although normal wheelchairs can fit between the doors, we have found in the past that extra wide wheelchairs can’t pass into the dining room. There is also a slight ramp from a corridor to the dining room. See access statement for full details. Doors are a minimum of 70cm wide.

See to the right where it shows the main access points. The red circle could be tight if someone is in a long wheelchair. The dimension of that corridor are 80CM wide, and there is a 40CM extra space where the slight ramp goes into the dining room.

The entrance to Hamps Barn is also flat with a dedicated parking space outside the door if required. There is a lovely flat large courtyard with seating at the front. The rear garden also has no-step access from Hamps Barn dining room.

If one of your guests is hard of hearing, we can provide a Deafguard (this is placed under your pillow and vibrates, should the fire alarm sound). Just let us know in advance.

Accessible Activities Nearby

Hamps Hall & Barn is situated in the beautiful Peak District National Park.  Happily, there are several trails (previously railway lines) that are relatively flat and accessible for wheelchair users (and those pushing children’s buggies).  At Parsley Hay Cycle Hire you can pre-book all types of cycles, including; hand-cranked bikes, Tramper mobility scooters and even BOMA all-terrain electric wheelchairs – these are great fun and allow exploration for beyond the flat paths.

Also do take a look at the Miles Without Stiles pages on The Peak District National Park website for more information on accessible routes for those less mobile or visually impaired with access to some dramatic scenery and tranquil locations!

For a more detailed description of features, bed heights, etc please see our Access Statement or get in touch with us.  You are very welcome to visit prior to booking if you want to check anything personally.  We are here to help!
